a fellow grower down south in illinois warned me off the need to spray fungicides now due to wet conditions and above average temps already this year. i have seen on garden posts of downy mildew and powdery mildew showing up early in a lot of place. matt d i think it was just posted of recent pm already on atlantic giant pumpkin plants in CT. i also read that after a big wind storm like we just had here yesterday, to be aware of fungus problems if conditions are right. that 60-70 mph duratio wind storm yesterday blew every spore you could think of many distances and it lasted from iowa to pennsylvania before it lost power. word to the wise, an early fungus problem a farmer had somewhere else could be your problem now.

Start spraying now if you haven't already. Even a 30% low fat milk spray. Can be done day or night.

Amen to that. I have been battling DM for weeks now because of all these storms. I didn't even get DM last year but this year its affecting my first giant marrow growing year.
