I believe I have snow mold on the winter rye in my pumpkin patch! Does this happen because the rye has been under five feet of snow for six months? How do I get rid of it? Would a good spraying with Zero Tol help? Thanks for your input. Paula

I think that is part of the natural thing that happens in the winter with rye. Spraying with zero tol will effect the good organisms as much as the bad. Give it a week and see what happens.

Gray Snow Mold is common around here even on lawns & golf courses. It damages but rarely kills grasses. Lightly raking the affected area lets in some air so the grass can recover.

Pink Snow Mold is less common but much worse. Grasses are often killed by Pink.

I'm not sure if Zerotol is effective for either. It could be. Check the label. PCNB is the most often used fungicide for Snow Mold. Though once the damage has ocurred there is no reason to treat it. Especially if the Rye will be tilled under soon.

Snow Mold can't affect pumpkins.
