Need help! Anybody know an effective way to get rid of Fungus gnats?
I'm growing some veggies indoor this winter to help pass the time, and all of my plants have been invaded. So far I've tried Resmethrin 0.02% soil spray from the local garden center - didn't work and killed some of my plant starts. Also tried applying Bacillus Thuringiensis "Thuricide" to the soil.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Dan, can you get anything such as Diazinon or an organophosphate? They used to sell this in little bottles under the Ortho brand a few years ago in hardware stores. A few oz. in a spray bottle will take care of these little critters. And when you spray it, put a teaspoon of foliar spray such as kelp or Miracle grow in there too, it will lighten the toxiticity affect to the plants. The OP residue should give you about 2-4 weeks control.

I believe the strain of bacillus that controls fungus gnats is Bacillus thuringiensis 'israelensis'. Thuricide contains Bacillus thuringiensis 'kurstaki'.

Thanks PrunFarmer and P.Cholo! I've drenched soil with two different brands of Bacillus thuringienis, which didn't seem to make a difference. These yellow "sticky" traps have helped. Last night I drenched the soil with liquid sevin. Hopefully my family can put up with the tiny flying critters a little bit longer, or else they'll put the kabosh to my winter indoor growing project :-(

Got home from work, and the liquid Sevin drench seems to have worked. Woo Hoo! Only a few straglers left!
