I have started using Bug-B-Gone this year primarily because it is labeled for all of the primary pumpkin enemies. When I started spraying my plants for cuke beetles, the bugs completely left the sprayed seedlings alone. I didn't see them on the leaves of the larger plants either...but I still saw them flying around the patch.

Over the weekend I tried something different, a Rotenone/Pyrethrin combo from GardensAlive....Mistake #1!! Although it killed beetles on contact, two days later I was INFESTED WITH CUKES!!

I broke out the SEVIN, and the next day there were DEAD CUKE BEETLES everywhere!! And none flying around!! I never saw very many dead beetles after using Bug-B-Gone, and now I am starting to wonder if it will really defend against the SVB. Is anyone else using Bug-B-Gone this year, and if so what have your experiences been so far? Thanks. --Bruiser

Hey Bruiser~ I've been using Bug B Gone since last year. My experience with it is that it seems to do good for me. Where I live, I haven't seen any cuke beetles and I only saw 2 SVB at the end of the growing season so I don't have a big infestation with either. I mainly have problems with the smaller enemies like white flies, which I use the Bug B Gone for. The kind I have is the powder and I just lightly sprinkle it on the underparts of the leaves where they hide out. I also use a soaker hose so the pesticide doesn't get washed off. Well, good luck with whatever you choose
