I listened to an interesting radio interview with someone from Purude University. The trails were done on munchkin pumpkins. The results of oraganic fungicides were pretty dismal used individually. Disease rates were still as high as 70-80%.
But what was really interesting is the addition of simple cranberry juice dropped disease rates down as low as 8%. Cranberry like in humans, doesn't kill bacteria, mold and viruses. What it does is prevent pathogens from attaching themselves to cells. Why it's great for urninary tact infections, it's just flushes them out.
Of course, the research is still in it's infancy and I don't know where to get pure cranberry juice. All of them seem to have added sugar. But I thought I'd post it. The rate was only 1-2 Tblspoons per gallon.
I'm just wondering for PM, how adding green cure or baking soda would work? Seems like it would have a double action going for it.

NSB that is interesting. Although baking soda would probably raise the ph too much according to the report, cranberry juice might be something to keep in mind. When all else seems to be failing, especially late in the fall.
