Are they staying damp and getting cold? I had damping off hit some watermelons that got leggy and I left them where they stayed cool. First time I have had that problem.

I sprinkled some potassium bicarbonate around the stems. I let the top of the potting soil dry out real well and all the plants were in the garage which is cool and damp even though they're under the grow light. I lost two that way and then I watered below the surface and put them all outside all day in the Sun. It's been like that for 2 days. At night, I bring them inside the house. So, it's been in the 50s and 60s since they've been outside and sunny. Yesterday, I watered them and let the top get moist cause it was real windy. This morning, I put them out again and they all looked ok. After work, two more are affected. So, it was cool all day but the tops are dry. I just painted Daconil on the stems hoping to stop the remaining two from getting it. They're not leggy like they were last year. 3 of the 4 plants have mangled cots though. Any help would be appreciated.
