For those of you that put granular Bayer Tree & Shrub (Merit) systemic insecticide in the soil before vines grow out, how much would you recommend putting out per 100 square feet? Is it better to put in soil of entire patch at one time, or little at a time staying ahead of terminal vine growth?

.8 ounces of Bayer Tree and Shrub (1.47% Imidacloprid) per gallon to 100 sq. ft.

I apply The Bayer advanced granular grub killer which is .25% Imidacloprid at about double the recommended rate on the bag. I apply this to the entire patch at the time of my final till.

I also use the liquid Bayer Tree & Shrub 1.47% Imidacloprid I apply this every month starting at the end of may. My first application is a 4oz soil drench around the base then every month on I apply 5 oz around the base and down the main a bit where the tap roots are. I have not used it as a foliar, just has a soil drench.

I also supplement with a foliar spray of Ortho Max, I apply this to the whole plant every 7-10 days depending on insect pressure and weather.

These insect prevention Program has worked very well for me.
