Marty in Iowa already has cukes as do many other states. They will be here any day with the warmer than usual temps here lately. Svbs should be popping with the heat in the next week also. It is a good time to do a lite prevent round staying away from vine tips and leaves under 10". Preventative maintenance now is the way to go very soon in my eyes. I am spraying Sunday night when the heat breaks. I have seen some aphids too which can do quick damage un-.noticeable at first.

Cucumber beetles are as far north as Anamosa now. The little buggers wiped out my long gourds and have been munching on my pumpkins. The got a shot of 2 insecticides plus garlic. I hope it isn't too late for the pumpkins.

I had an issue with some cumber beatles. I got the sevin on them and it appears that I wiped out the first wave of them. I'm sure more is to follow so They got another dose of sevin in the morning along with the fish and seaweed. It seems that they came earlier for me this year. Give those guys a foothold in the patch and soon they'll take over spreading wilt and other nasty things. I'm making a better effort to get them wiped out as soon as possible. Staying on top of those issues early is important if you want to grow a champ.
