I use Triazicide...start spraying before they appear, thats what I'm planning on....as Tom B always says...."Be Proactive".

lmao! being proactive is the key, I would get the SVB traps and put atleast one out, and start thinking about a weekly insecticide program.

I didn't have a trap last year and my marrows got pounded pretty bad by SVB's. Ordered a trap about 3 days ago.
SVB's beware!

Can't I get any type of spray at the local walmart that will protect me from the SVB?

Yes, Ortho MAX with Binuferin & Triazicide which is warior T/Z. Merit is available in several forms such as Bayer Tree and shrub. The combination of the contact and system usually takes care of them well.

Seriously, I ordered traps from Tom Privitera last year and was amazed at the number of SVBs I caught. I never even knew they existed before I bought the traps.

A little bit of money very well spent. Buy 1 for each plant.

I was always hesitant in buying a SVB trap because of what japanese beetle traps do. You take the bait out of the bag put it in the beetle trap and beetles from 10 miles around swarm around the trap. I always wondered if the SVB traps would attract passing by or other SVB's in the area. :(
