Reading the article in th New England news letter, I have some leaves that look like that. I thought it was the cool wet weather and stress do to nitrogen being tied up. Also article says symptoms dont appear till later. Would I see leaves like that now? Only on a couple of plants that didnt start with heating cables, and were definately affected by coolness and dampness. Started back then with the yellow spots like a lot of people were having.

I have had it last year. It does not start with yellow spots or an overall yellowing of the plant. The tip of the main vine will turn yellow and stop growing and it points up. Then it spreads back towards the stump slowly. It will abort all pumpkins after about 2 or 3 days from pollination. If the plant does not set any fruit and they are lumpy looking that probably means it is YVD. A picture would help. If it is YVD don't waste your time trying to save the plant it is pointless.

It doesn't sound like it sweet1. The first visible signs are leaves that appear to be flagging at a time when you would not expect it, and remain that way. Usually the first couple of leaves back from the tip that are hand size or larger. They will have a N difficient color but the rest of the plant usually looks ok. The leaves will also have a somewhat glossy look. Vine tips stop growing. And its all down hill from there. More pics in my 2010 diary & TNTammy's diary 2011.
