There are deer fly patches sold by Gardens Alive. You put them on the back of your hat and they work great.

I spray my baseball cap w/Deep Woods Off every day before entering patch and it works pretty well...they buzz me and usually take off! Good luck!

Golden Malrin is a fly bait used by farmers to kill large quantities of flies. Comes in a sealed can. Sprinkle some into flat containers, flies come, eat, die.

The stuff smells like something rotten, is very poisonous, and is sometimes used(illegally, I believe) to get rid of raccoons.

Deet(N,N-Diethyl-meta toluamide)sprayed on clothes works well to repel the little bastards.

Anyone know if the Golden Malrin works on gnats? For a period of a few weeks every spring I have tons of gnats in my area and deet does nothing to stop them from landing on me. Not even 100% deet.

Be careful with golden malrin, I believe it will attract cats and dogs and is very fatal.Try doing a search on it.
