I was skeptical of the SVB trap as i had used jap beetle traps years ago and did nothing more than draw all the beetles from the neighborhood to my yard. Based on commentary in the BP posts i chose to get one as it supposedly did not draw more but lured the ones that were there to the trap. This is my 1st year with AG's but i have many years growing field pumpkins and have not had a svb problem for about 5 seasons. I never even saw a SVB before this season. After 2 days in the patch i started seeing svb's shooting around and going to the trap and flying off, this was a 1st. I subsequently moved the trap about 100 feet away to my tomato patch. 4 days later there are 6 svb's in the trap.

For my situation i think that the trap is drawing them in to an area that they would not otherwise go. If it works for you excellent but try to determine if its drawing more in than normal . i am glad that i have merit in and consistently spray triazicide(probably too much). jeff

Yes I have trapped over 70 in 1 trap,My patch about 8000 feet I always had them,I cant see where trap would draw more,I have 3 plants 2 kins & 1 squash,These are huge lures,Much bigger than these little traps, there are many gardens in my area, where people dont know what a svb is,I have merit in plants so there safe anyway,Im reducing future populations 70 X ??? how many eggs do these SVBs avg a season???

If you think the trap draws in SVB's, take the trap and place it out in the middle of no where, a place without yours or a neighbors garden, if such a place exsists....see how many SVB's you catch.

The plants are the "trap", SVB's just know how to find them. I've planted AG's and Field pumpkins side by side for several years, the SVB's either don't lay eggs on my field pumpkins or the larve just can't penetrate the vines. My AG's always take the hit.

Im well over 100 SVBs in 1 trap, I dont know why.but I found 15 in trap on Sunday that was a 2 day total, they seem to like the Tom cage location only a few feet from ZUCs & Summer Sq.
