Could someone give me some help. My pumpkins are starting out yellow and then getting a little bigger then getting soft and dying...what is happening. I have been watching my mini pumpkins and they are doing the same exact thing. I don't have any gourds yet so I don't know what will happen with them. I thought it was fertilization problems so I tried to fix that and that didn't work. I have only one green pumpkin out of about 10 and it is still green - but i expect it to turn yellow and die. The leaves all look great as do the vines...any idea what could be happening and how to fix????? thanks so much

I'm sorry i meant pollination problems not ferilization...i've been using miracle grow on them and i manually pollinated a few and that didn't work.

It sounds like pollination is the problem to me, how are you manually pollinating them? and what are your weather conditions like?

In order of likelness.
Multiple plants.
Temperatures are too high. use a cooler and ice.
Too much nitrogen. Plant wants to make leaves not pumpkins.
One plant.
Plant has a disease like fusarium, will not set a fruit ever.
Plant is sterile, will not set a fruit ever.

Weather has been hot. Little rain. When it does rain it's short lived. We had few bees for some time but the bee population has picked up. For the manual pollination..took the male flower and pollinated the female flower in the morning when the flowers were open. But I quit doing that since the bees got more active when the temps came back down to the lower 80s.
Ron Rahe....Thanks for posting but I'm not sure what some of your post means. Multiple Plants? Use a cooler and Ice? I'm not sure about the nitrogen...that's possible. One plant? Wouldn't all my plants...even zucchini...have the fusarium -they are growing like mad? Plant is sterile....are all my plants sterile?? I have two different kinds of jack olanterns...some from seed and some already plants when I purchased and what about my mini pumpkins on the other side of the garden...same thing.. thanks for your replies.
