Any problem with mixing the two at the same time to avoid two separate sprayings? Each is mixed with the correct amount of water.

My fruit tree spray from Bonide contains both sevin and captan.

Hey, a similar question.....what about spraying with Captan and/or Sevin on the same day as fertilizing?

Hey Borer, Do you use the fruit tree spray on your pumkin
plants ?

Brigitte, I wondered the same thing. If you foliar feed and then spray with Captan/Sevin, you've washed off the fertilizer and vice versa. How long to wait between applications. I would guess foliar fert. would always go first and then fungicide/pesticide a day later. Anyone care to comment?

When pressed for time, we're better off abstaining from the foliar fert & just applying it to the root zone if also spraying the foliage for insect/disease on the same day.

This may spark a heated debate & I'm OK with that, but only a tiny portion of foliar appled nutrients ever find their way into useful plant growth service. The greater benefit is realized later when water moves the nutrients off the leaves & down to the soil. Honest. It's what I do for a living so I've spent many hours researching & field testing these theories. Peter's did an in depth study of their own soluble fertilizers a few years back that also confirmed this & they actually published their findings (to their credit).

Despite this, when it makes sense, I still foliar fertilize. But never at the expense of good soil applied nutrients or a solid Insect & Disease program.

Many common Insecticides can be "tank mixed" with fungicides. But always read the label of both just in case. The above mentioned I know are fine. But when in doubt, make a small batch in a jar & let it sit a while. If the materials seperate or congeal then the materials are probably not compatible.

Tremor, thanks. I actually tried some Diazinon (instead of Sevin yesterday) in combination with the powdered Captan. Got a chalk-like precipitate in the solution. Do you know for sure if these two are not compatible? If so, I'll avoid combining these two in the future.

The hobby grower can and often does work the contact insecticides under the leaf onto the leaf stems and vines.
Observation is correct if you notice the leaf feeding applications 99% runs off to the natural drip lines and down the stems. Therefore for hobby growers with a few plants I see advantage in separate applications which can be topped off by the fungicides or insecticides. A half hour or so between applications can and will improve the use of both fertilizers and other treatments. In this case the easy way may not be the best way.

When mixing with fertilizers the run off of insecticides and fungicides can easily waste the latter or possibly attack the soil with excesses not needed. I would rather take the time to do it in layers using the fertilizers first.
