All,
If you could view the most recent posts in my diary (MitchK) from today (eight or nine of them, I think one got duplicated) and provide me any insights into what might be going one, I would appreciate it. I started with a full patch view, then a view from the root out and across the leaves and then four or five posts with the typical problem I am seeing.
Any help, diagnosis, suggestions for next year (or this year if not too late) would be appreciated.

I think it is too much Nitrogen that causes that exploded growth at the top of the leaf stem. I have found this cracks open and allows water to enter the leaf tube and rot it. Not a 100% sure but just my opinion.

My personal opinion is that you have elevated nitrogen levels but I would not say excessive.
The holes in the leaves do look similar to a gummy stem blight. There also looks to be some white spots on the leaves which could be powdery or spray residue (it is hard to tell in the picture). To add to the confusion is there could even be some downy mildew going on.
End of the season there can be multiple diseases occurring at the same time.
My suggestion to you for improvements for next year is to add nitrogen only if it is needed, remember pumpkins do not need much nitrogen. This may help your problem out a lot but also consider some systemic fungicides.
