it started a few days ago. i noticed it about 2 days after i rubbed 2 flowers together. at first it was just a small round, yellowish ball on the vine, about 12' out from the trunk. but now today, when i went out to check on it, it was so big that i took my tape measure out and measured it . 24" around from stem to blossom end it taped. friday the 13th is when i rubbed those two flowers together. is it some kind of tumor or disease? i`m going to apply massive doses of potassium in hopes of a remedy. it`s on the Clark 209 plant and the other flower came from the Frantz 392.5. could it be some kind of allergic reaction between the two? any advice from the experts is welcome.

TO PREVENT FUTHER ALARM: As soon as you see that cancerous ball remove it. Keep only unaffected healthy flowers on vine. ]:o)

I took my first cancerous ball off today (it had a flower on it) ...I pinched it off. Glad you guys gave me this information. I would hate to lose my plant to a tumorous pumpkin disease. Thanks

thanks for the advice. today i noticed 6 more cancerous growths on several other plants. they seem to appear where-ever i rubbed two flowers together. i cut them off as well as 3' of vine in both directions. don`t want to start an epidemic.

If I were you, I'd pull all those plants before that "disease" gets soilbound!
