anyone have any idea on how the cool, wet weather will affect the inevitable svb arrival?

We are beginning to be assured that the insect activity is in the early development stages right now. I have reapplied a build up application to my original Merit treatment. This at half the original strength of application. This to be followed again on the first of July. The plan "B" is to use Scimitar above ground, in addition. My first application is on and will be followed in fourteen day or less cycles depending on rain factors and wash off by watering or misting.

Mr. SVB should be stirring about underground as we speak. Going at the sucker both ways seems advisable to me. I've started the war. The little grey moth I had is history in process as of this week.

Docgipe,

Those vines will really be taking off in the next few weeks. I suggest you alternate your Merit/Scimitar sprayings every 7-10 days rather than 14. I've heard it takes a "while" for systemic to travel to new growth.

Thank you. I will double check. My Merit is or has just been topped off following a May 1st beginning. It will be topped off again the first of July. Merit is a systemic. You are correct it takes a week or more to be well into your plants.

I thought Scimitar was a contact killer. The way we mist or water closer re-application may well be a good idea.

I have found that one must be most carefully paying attention to the application rates. Working with the lower suggested rates is necessary for new growth thus avoiding nuke effect.

I tested on two leaves at the medium rate and got minor chemical burn on new growth.

My vines are starting to take off right now. I see no insects of major concern at this hour.
