The other day I noticed that one of my pumpkins had a big tear down the middle and most of the leaves have small tears around the edges. What can I do?

Sounds like wind damage. My plants have similar damage. Check the photo gallery for a sample picture. If the leaves start to look mostly brown then cut them off. I left the leaf in the picture on for now. If you don't already have some sort of wind break put one up. Check my diary entries to see my windbreaks.

If your vines are damaged then treat them with a fungicide and then bury them. If an actual pumpkin (the fruit) is damaged then just remove it.
