My neighbour Joerg who had 2 nice AG plants growing is out off the race. A very aggressive vole snapped off major roots in the stump areas on both plants and they died off. Poison and traps couldn´t stop the nasty bastard.
So take care if you recognize any kind of "traffic" underneath the soil surface. It might finish your season earlier than any beetle, borer or disease. Good idea would be some kind of protection cage for the stump area to keep these underground critters away.

We just started selling a new mole/vole/shrew killing product this year.

Kaput is a gel in a dispenser syringe.

I am very surprised by the performance. Though I used to trap moles commercially, and got good results myself, I've always encountered trouble training other grounds professionals in the proper use of traps. So I really expected to hear at least a few complaints of poor results. None. Even the "least" skilled professionals are getting good results.

I don't know if the material is available in Europe. But here is a link to the manufacturers website:

http://www.scimetricsltd.com/mole.html

I polled 8 applicators & heard the testimonials of about a half dozen others. All got good results withinh 4 weeks.

Thanks for the link Steve. Unfortunately - like many other US products - not available in Europe.

The active ingredient is Warfarin, which is commonly found in Rat & Mouse poison baits over here. I don't know if a mole would be interested in eating a bait that is formulated for mice & rats. But they might. If it were me on my own property, I'd give it a shot.

Have you checked with Wolf?

We do have stuff basing on Warfarin as well. Good for rats and voles. Moles don´t touch it, that´s the way the product is designed (killing moles is not recommended over here, they eat underground insects and don´t hurt plants).
Always bad if critters get used to our "weapons". I saw traps being pushed away or untouched poison.
