I have soft spots on the outside of my pumpkin. Is that bad or will that not hurt anything? Do I have to get rid of it? Any help would be nice.

Apply a fungicide. I like to keep my pumpkins coated in spray anyway. Last year a couple of people (including John D.) had vine borers in the flesh of their pumpkins. When I spray with Daconil and Sevin I am sure to coat the pumpkins too. For the soft spot you may want to apply some Captan as a paste. If you can't find captan look for another general fungicide that is in powder form. Then add a very small amount of water to the powder to form a paste. Brush the paste on the damaged part of the pumpkin. Finally, keep the pumpkin dry. Protect it from rain and your watering system. Whatever fungicide you use be sure and read the label carefully, as Captan is VERY toxic.
