I believe white sticky traps work on aphids. You can make your own with any white material, plastic might be best .Then ,coat the white material with Tanglefoot,a sticky paste you can buy at most stores selling garden supplies. Good luck. Terry

I use insecticidal soap. You can make it yourself. Kills them within minutes.

A organic product like Trounce will work great on aphids. Its an insecticidal soap and pyrethrin mix (Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids 20%, Pyrethrins 0.2%) Just don't do it on a hot day.

Neem oil is really good to...don't spray it on new growth or on a sunny day..

I got hit last year in September and tried ladybugs but I think I was too late with them. Going to start putting them out in August this year.
Organic insecticide soap worked okay but had to be sprayed on the bottom of every leaf. Tough to do when you have thousands of leafs.

Yes...Neem and Tanzy oils are a good weapon but most anything you use needs also sprayed on the undersides of the leaves..Its a pain but worth it. The Aphids attack the lesser walled pours on the underside. Also I would "Highly" Recommend Any of Jerry Bakers Garden Books. They are Packed with Home remedies of Tonics, Teas, Bug Repellents ETC. Jerry Baker is one of the "OLD SCHOOL GARDENING ORIGINALS" I'll Post a Pick of the Book I have on my Diary...Its incredible and does Talk about Pumpkins and Vegetable Gardens. Good Luck Master P

I am using Organocide this year too given I fend off the chipmunks. It's a blend of sesame and fish oils.

Make sure that you get rid of ants, ants will harvest aphids, trasporting them from plant to plant. Ants love their secretion (yeck)and will help to build colonies of aphids in order to get loads of it.
