There is a 3in split in the basal crown of my main plant... it's parallel with the vine. It's not leaking and I don't think it's slowing the growth (this plant is growing faster than any of the others). But, what do I do with it? It looks like the split is self-healed but there is now a small gap to the center. What can I do? Should I expect problems with it? Hey - grow BIG! and thanks!

If it were me I would not be that concerned, BUT if it catches and holds water, it will cause problems eventually. I would build a little cover to shed water away from it. Keep it dry.

Make a little table with a piece of clear acrylic to cover it.Some growers use them to keep the plants stump dry. Two birds with one stone.

Sounds like a good idea! Does the table have to be driven into the ground? I have acryllic that's about 12x12in. But the leaves off the stump would have to be trimmed off. I guess that there's no other way. Thanks and best wishes! Greg
