There are different concentration of clorothalanil so I won't comment on the rate except to stay exactly between the low & high rates. READ THE LABEL! High rate only when disease is active or pressure is very high. Low rate when no disease is not active & humidity related or other environmental pressure is low.

Only spray at sunset if you can. PERIOD! Unless the only other option is to miss a required spray. Then try to schedule it when the high temps for the next 8-10 hours won't exceed 85*F.

Weekly when pressure or high growth rate (inches of vine per day) is high. 10-14 days when growth has slowed.

The trouble with freqency (or duration of time between days) is that as a young vine grows, the new leaves are unprotected because they weren't there when you sprayed. You may wish to NOT spray the tips (as I have now learned) with any pesticide since some damage will always occur.

Better to increase frequecy & lower rate than vice versa.

Pro forms of Daconil are available in 82.5% active dry wettable powder as well as a 6Lb Flowable (54% active) & a 3Lb Flowable (27% active). Since coming off patent, there are others but this about covers the popular formulations.

Sxcott,

I almost forgot. Any current commercial version of Daconil or Manicure you find should be labeled as "Ultrex" or "Weather-Stick" & all come from the same Syngenta manufacturing facility regardless of the name on the bottles label. If Ultrex or Weather Stick (or Stik) appear on the label, it has the surfactant allready in it & no more is needed.

Due to all the confusion that entails with private labeling agreements & mergers & acquisitions, I look to the EPA Registration Number for the real truth as to who made it & where. Professional versions that are currently in production & contain the surfactants include the following:

82.5% Ultrex (Manicure&Daconil) # 50534-202-100 no Pumpkins on label
82.5% Ultrex (Bravo) Reg # 50534-201-100 Yes Pumpkins
54% 6Lb Flowable (WeatherStik)EPA Reg. # 50534-209-100 no Pumpkins
29.6% Flowable (ManicureT&O) EPA Reg. # 60063-9-10404 Yes Pumpkins
54% Flowable (Bravo Weatherstik) #50534-188-100 Yes Pumpkins
51% Flowable(BravoWeatherstik)ZN #50534-220-10182 Potatoes & Beans Only
54% Flowable (BravoWeatherStik) #50534-188-10182 Yes Pumpkins
38.5% Flowable (BravoSuperWeatherStik) #50534-204-100 Potatoes & Beans only
50% Flowable (Bravo500WeatherStik) #15723 CANADA Yes Pumpkin

Still available but not containing surfactants include:

Zeneca's Bravo 500 40% active Flowable #50534-B-10182 Yes Pumpkins
38.5% Flowable (Zeneca's BravoZN) # 50534-204-10182 Potatoes & Beans only.

None of the Sipcam Echo products that have Chlorothalinil in them contain surfactants.

There are also a whole raft of other Daconil containing products that have been spiked with other fungicides to make them work better. Ridomil Gold Bravo is an example where the Ridomil is the new name given to Subdue since Syngenta became the owner. Some have surfactants & some don't.

Just to confuse us some more is Tilt Bravo for Peanuts that contains only Propiconozole (Banner) & has no Daconil in it what so ever. Has surfactants though ;-)

Amazing what my industry does to people in the name of fine marketing. Of course the federal government has turned it into a bloody nightmare thanks to the Clinton/Gore administrations efforts to make us all safe.

(big sigh)

So far I've only hit the high points of the items offered by the big hitters. And these are just the professional use products. I don't even want to think about the consumer use products.

If someone has a product that isn't on this list & wants to know, post the EPA Registration Number & I'll try to figure out what it really is.

But now it's time to go measure some pumpkins (& maybe crack a cold one) ;-)

It should be fine as long as it's never frozen. Is it all clumpy & lumpy? If not you should be OK. What is the EPA Registration #?
