I have already burned leaves in the heat. The first 5 to 8 true leaves on plants are old and now toast. I learned early......hot leaves and high night temps should mean more frequent spraying at very light doses. And I added an extra lure in my svb traps....to finally get to the point of the post. Lol. Budweiser.

Take 2. Why not add extra svb lures for extra protection when spraying with night time at 8 pm and it is still almost 90....and the more frequent lower doses was mentioned cuz a friend just pulled a pinky size grub out of a leaf stalk.

Stand out there with a electric racket and a Budweiser.. I'm not spraying anything now. Especially after I toasted the plant last Saturday with a chemical concoction.

If you use systemics why spray insecticides ???
Fugicides I understand but still not sure why people spray after using Merit or other systemics ?

Merit does not give 100% coverage... It was more a dumb mistake on my part trying to spray when it was too hot

If I relied only on systemic in Illinois, I would already be done for the season.

Don't the SVB Traps only catch the male vine borers?

I set my traps out early (no lure) this year to air them out, my plants weren't even in the ground....I caught one.
With that in mind, I decided to go with no lure this year and I've caught about the same this year as years past when using lure....go figure....LOL
