I posted a pic in another thread of yellow area on my plant but I've got some other areas I'm concerned about. Can anyone suggest what issues these might be for me and how to remedy?
These are right at the stump so I'm thinking it just the oldest leaves dying off? http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=182840c
These are at the end of the main. Is this yellow vine disease? http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=182841

Picture 1 looks like "old age" and something I would not be to concerned with. In this pictures there is also a hint of potassium deficiency.
Picture 2 could be yellow vine disease and since you just had a pumpkin abort that also favors yellow vine disease. Try and set another pumpkin, and if you can not and the yellow coloration spreads it might be over for this season for this plant. Have you seen squash bugs in the patch?

Pic 2 is yellow vine decline. Delt with it here many years. I have not been able to salvage a single fruit once it hits the plant. I now pull the plant as soon as I see it. 3 down this year with a 4th that won't set fruit but no yellowing yet. It will progress back into main and then adjoining sides and/or tips of nearest sides. Dang squash bugs!

Yeah, ive got squash bugs. I spray them, remove egss and kill every one I see every day. Should i just cut the main above where the yellow leaves are and hope it doesnt spread? i've got 1 new fruit set on a side and have 2 more ready in the next few days...

@fultonpub
Its done I wouldn't bother trying to save it at this point. You may get a fruit to grow for 3 or 4 days but then it will get spongey and fall off. Try to prevent it next year. I got it 2 years ago on my plants but I have not had it happen again. Last year 816lb pumpkin, this year I am growing watermelon and there is no yvd.
@brotherdave
Maybe you should find another area a few miles away and grow pumpkins there. Or not grow any other cucurbits in your area if possible. I think I have not hade it come back because the squash bugs had no where to build up high numbers since I only have one small patch.

Thanks for the advice NP but it's kind of a standing joke around here that you don't leave your car windows down or your neighbors will fill it with squash and zucchini. There's no place to hide a patch from the bugs.
