Checking my main vine today, I noticed some jelly ooze coming from where the main vine and the leaf node and secondary met the ground. Its about 10 feet down the main vine from the stump. Stump is a foamer. All the secondarys coming off the main vine after the stump and before this are ok. Not sure what to do? Any advise?
Did surgery on stump when I noticed the foamer, still leaking some clear liquid but starting to dry up.

I had that snot on 6 different junctions on the 991 main 2 years ago....saved the main...saved othe pumpkin....grew the 1433 on it. Remove the goo....goo is sticky....rot spores will adhere to it....after wiping off goo, spray with 10 percent bleach water 90 percent water mix. Pat dry with napkin. Look for any browning dead tissue if present. Use the tip if plastic spoon and gently dig and scrape off layers of brown to firm healthy tissue. Apply captan. Use a fan if you have one. Keep dry with small tables. That snot sure looks like kiss of death, but I believe sometimes not the sign of disease, but more like a blow out with leaking sugar water forming into a gell like molasses snot. Not the end of the world unless a disease snot dicharge. Those are uually more brown in color and can have foam mixed into as infection causes gas release.

Shazzy, you describe it exactly. I will get out there as soon as the sun goes down, its 93 and its 4pm. I will remove the goo, spray with bleach water, check for brown apply captan and keep it dry. It is like a clear gel, almost whitish. I tell you if it aint one dang thing its another. I do appreciate you sharing and will take your advise. Thanks.

Zero Tol might be a good choice to help dry up the goober spots. Had a few myself this year.

I've got that goober snot stuff oozing down here too On about every other leaf junction where the secondary comes out. I cut some loose from the tap root beacause it seemed to be causing too much pressure on the vine. Captan paste seems to have slowed it some.
