Hi:
I have a question. I am growing my giant pumpkin and I've been seeing a light brownish crickets. I'm wondering if they are harmful to my garden/giant pumpkin?
I also have what I think is a bean leaf beetle, and cucumber beetles. Is there a product that I buy to spray and kill them? I have a small garden 10 x 16'. I started the garden here in our new place last year. This year I've had the most trouble ever with garden pests. I've been reading and I read how to prepare the soil for next year. Is there anything that I can do now just to kill the bugs off so I will have some yummy veggies?
Thanks, Candis aka Lucky (LuckLuck)

I doubt the cricket will cause you any harm. Not sure about the bean leaf beetle but the cucumber beetles are a major threat. You need a contact AND a systemic insecticide, Talstar and Merit are good examples. You don't necessarily need the brand name, look for the active ingredient in both then start shopping.
"This year I've had the most trouble ever with garden pests"......Atlantic Giant pumpkin plants are an excellent pest magnet!

I'm thinking next year I will start a patch just for my giant pumpkins and keep them away from my veggie garden Thanks 1320 from Frenchburg, Ky. Candis aka LuckLuck
