I have noticed some SVB in side vines and leaves on 2 of my plants. I know there are probably more I can not see. To get rid of them would it be better to do a double dose Bayer Tree and shrub or cut them out. What would be less plant stress.
I also found 2 leaves with 1 or 2 spots of PM. I have sprayed Daconil but it rained a lot this week and the PM came in. Any Ideas on how to stop the PM. I know when it takes hold there may be no stopping it.
Does Serenade natural fungicide work. The Bayer Tree is harsh enough I don't want to go over board on the chemicals..

I'm a 3rd year grower, and have used Serenade without success---I try to go organic, but the PM is a tough customer going organic.

So then what would you recomend with 3 kids in the yard all the time. I keep them out of the patch but if the SVB's win that is better than ANY amount of injury to the kids. I will always take the side of caution in this case. Still what would you recommend..I am open to suggestion.

I used the mildew cure from holland last year and had almost no signs of mildew. Using again this year. I did burn my leaves some mixing with another organic bug killer too strong of mix on too warm a day. Great organic product

If you plan on growing year after year.Buy some SVB traps from Tom only 20$ a pc shipped.last year I trapped 158.this year down to about 50.I should only get another 20 or so there done by the 3rd week of august around here.If you have neighbors gardening buy them a trap.I'm thinking long term control.I only have 1 trap works great I move it around weekly. The Bayer tree & shrub is harmless the plant will suck up 90% with in 24hrs.Put it down after a light watering, never put it down if rain is in the forecast& try to put it out away from stump so the new roots will pick it up.Water it in along the MV.I think you need to apply every 2 weeks to keep levels up I just re did the 81 wolf as I saw the svbs starting to eat on surface a litle seems the product maybe not as strong as it used to be.The price did drop product this year??

I used 16 oz of .74% in 900sq I didn't get any damage. Even with the thousands fling around. Just treated with merit instead of 16oz of Bryar T&S. I used 1/4 tsp of Merit. Same dose. same thing.
use infuse for the PM worked for me. If your going to eat the pumpkin. Grow sugar pie pumpkins.

Like Nic said, Stylet is good for PM. This is my first year without any PM at this time and all I have used is Milk, Organocide, Actinovate and Stylet. Lots of good articles out there if you just google it.
I broke down and got Merit for SVB's and use it as a drench. I don't plan on having my kid eat the leaves or kin, so we are good there. I also cut all flowers to prevent kiling all the bees. It's time consuming, but worth it to me.

Choices.....If PM takes over weights will slow to a crawl..but I also understand the kid factor(I have 3 of my own) I personally use all the biologicals..but once every 15 days I spray a more aggressive fungicide (eagle/mancozeb,Daconil). I also prune off any leaves that I feel are HIGHLY infected by pm to open up more air space. If you are going to go the minimal route you best strategy is to allow the leaves to dry fast during the morning which means eliminating overcrowded leaves...It also allows your spray program to better cover both sides of the leaves. Hope this helps...Mark
