Ok incase you havent heard. I have some rodents using my 1272 as a delicatessin. I have called out the big gunZ on this. I have set up live traps, I have set up the peanut butter rodent plunge for life bucket, and rescently put out the blocks of Rat poison. NOW since they have persisted I have called out the pro's to come and rid myself of this issue hopefully before they make my 1272 pumpkin look any worse. Which it look REAL bad right now. I am taking any other suggestions in order to maybe help someone that may receive this curse of the Pumpkin eating rodent.

I have rats but the've been too busy eating my tomatoes to notice the pumpkin. I killed about 10 in a week and that seemed to thin the population some!

Try a trap known as the "t-Rex". They work awesome. Be careful though because they are VERY sensitive and may get other critters in addition to the rats. I inadvertently got a robin in one last year, felt horrible about it.

Find the den if possible, Rats love pumpkins for some reason. When we would find a den we would take the Propane Weed Burner put it in the hole let it run with no flame for 30 seconds. Stand back and Ignite. At a certain point the flame stops burning out and sucks in and Kaboom.

also try some moth balls around the pumpkin.they hate the smell of them.

That works very well Shannon, for both rats and groundhogs. Propane sinks and, when ignited, sucks all the oxygen out of the hole.

Castor oil pellets will run them off. I tried poison, glue and traps and couldn't catch them. I sprinkled the castor oil pellets around the stump, vine going to the fruit, and around the fruit. Haven't seen any signs in a week or so.
