I posted pics in my diary but I believe it to be DM.
I've treated with copper and plan to use sulphur dust if it'll ever quit raining!
Question: would a bleach spray be more effective, if at all?

Kyle,,Appears to be same thing I had in my 75 Plant.I eventually pulled it up.Couldnt control what ever it is..Killed leaves at an alarming rate.I also thought downey mildew..I'm pretty sure what ever it is was caused by rain..rained 36/40 days..Good Luck. J

Thanks Jeff...I'm pretty sure it's DM. It'll probably wipe out 5-6 plants at my farm patch (please NO, not the 940 Mombert!) but I believe I can salvage the rest with the right treatment.

My pesticide license may come in handy for this one...

Thoughts Steve?

Kyle,

From the NCSU crop profile website.

Downy Mildew
Like Powdery Mildew, the causal fungus overwinters in areas with mild winters and is carried by wind to other areas. Periods of moist weather favor disease development. Upon infection, irregular yellow to brown spots appear on the underside of leaves usually at the center of the plant. A purplish mildew develops on the underside of the spot. As the spots grow in size the leaf dies. The disease progresses rapidly from the crown of the plant to the new growth until the entire plant is killed.

Metalaxyl/Chlorothalonil (Ridomil Bravo)
Target disease: Downey mildew
Average rate and frequency of application:
Ridomil Bravo B 2lbs/A, 5 times

Chlorothalonil is aka Daconil, Manicure, etc
Metalaxyl is aka Subdue

Subdue is a full blown systemic fungicide that does translocate. Do this soon. Very soon.

Thanks Steve.
Subdue? Is this something I could get locally, ie: is it sold in retail?
I thought Daconil was'nt for treating but for preventative?
I have both Daconil and Ridomil.....
Thanks again.

Jeff, When was that? Don't remember. I try to get back to everyone. But July was goofy with vacations, new email server, & such. Or were those the pics you sent earlier in the year? Looked like spray injury to me.

Kyle, Ridomil Gold is the same thing as Subdue. Ridomil is the name Syngebnta gave the product a couple years ago when they bought the former Novartis which was formerly Ciba-Geigy who originally developed the material.

Check the label anyway. Syngenta likes to play around in strange ways with their labeling. I think the Syngenta marketing group must work a lot of overtime trying to justify their salaries or something.

You're looking for Metalaxyl as the active ingredient. Metalaxyl could also be listed as it's full & technical name.....Get ready....deep breath.....

(R)-2-2[(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-methoxyacetylamineo]-propionic acid methyl ester

Phew!

Combine the Ridomil/Subdue/Metalazyl/whatever with the Bravo/Manicure/Daconil/Chlorothalonil/whatever & get the best of both worlds. You do need to cure what's active (if it's not too late) but we still also need to prevent new spores from getting started. So combine the two into one spray.

Call me later on the cell if you want. This is a big deal.

Got my stuff. Now if it'll ever quit raining and spreading spores, I can spray proper like....that's Southern for spraying correctly.

Proper like is right now even if it's raining. The Metalaxyl will translocate through the roots that much quicker unless there's standing water. Treat the foliage whenever the rain stops.

Kyle I'm serious. Don't wait.
