HELP!!!! I am a first-time grower and currently have 6 plants growing in the backyard. They generally look healthy (except for a mild case of powdery mildew which I have treated). My problem is that all of my female flowers (except one) have stopped growing before maturity (blooming) and have shriveled. Only one female flower has bloomed and at that time there was not mature male flower to pollinate it. Why are the female flowers not shriveling up before they bloom. It's not a pollination problem because the flowers aren't blooming yet. Any suggestions?

I don't know why the flowers are shriveling, but you should definitly hand pollanate the remaining female flower to ensure you get a pumpkin. good luck finding a solution. -Meryl

What is your fertilizer schedule? To much nitrogen, will cause what your problem is. Sometimes a pesticide sprayed on a female blossom, will also do the same.
