I have had mite problems in the past. Is there anything I can put down preseason to help? How do you combat mites during the season?

I had them last year. I tried neem oil, insecticidal soap, and another bayer I think. The only thing that worked was AVID you can buy in small quantity's on e-bay for about $20. Here is a link for one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pipette-free-gift-of-Avid-EC-Miticide-1-oz-Bottle-Thrips-Mites-No-Sales-To-CA-/281074089771?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4171523f2b Another one is Forbid but I never tried it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pipette-free-gift-of-Forbid-4f-Miticide-1-4-oz-Aphids-Mites-No-Sales-To-CA-/271168262993?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f22e35351

Just a piece below I found from first link. Second link elaborates on controls more. Insecticides can trigger outbreaks because mites become resistant and it kills their natural predators. Soaps, miticides, and oils are best, and I guess you have to find a balance when using insecticides.
"Chemical Control
Spider mites frequently become a problem after applying insecticides. Such outbreaks are commonly a result of the insecticide killing off the mites’ natural enemies but also occur when certain insecticides stimulate mite reproduction. For example, spider mites exposed to carbaryl (Sevin) in the laboratory have been shown to reproduce faster than untreated populations. Carbaryl, some organophosphates, and some pyrethroids apparently also favor spider mites by increasing the level of nitrogen in leaves. Insecticides applied during hot weather usually appear to have the greatest effect, causing dramatic spider mite outbreaks within a few days"
