I think that is very poor advice...We grow C Maxima which are like Squash Vine Borer Magnets. If you had a whole field of pumpkins maybe..Way to much time goes into to patch preparation and plant growing to not use a good systemic insecticide early on and a contact on top of that once the Vine Borers arrive.

To maximize your investment, the logic is to use what works best... and, using imidacloprid as a systemic and lambda-cyhalothrin or comparable as a contact is really effective and noticable. Yet, maybe this advice can be taken by certain growers with limited resources. You don't have to dig deep into your wallet plus you can be sure that your not responsible for unintended killing of beneficial insects.

You know they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true. The Blue Jay pest control company has been doing pest control sense 1991! Plus they have the best solution to stop the SVB.... Grow butternut squash. Maybe I should stop by is business on my home from work. And get some more advice. I would like to see ya use foil and rotation. In Omaha. last year there was hundreds caught in my traps. I seen them lay eggs everywhere. vines, leaf stocks, the pumpkin. Even if you berried every vine. or wrapped every vine. They will find a way. Merit.
