I have a 1302 lbs HD T. Kline. plant looks awesome however the 1st female is about 15 ft out. the base of the flower is as wide as the pumpkin. no other females in site out on the main vine which is approaching 20 ft. I had this kind of female 2 years ago and the seed were outside of the pumpkin and it never took. the sides are out about 8 ft and have nice looking females. should i pollenate the nicest looking side or hope i get another female form on the main which will be 20+ feet out. i can text a picture if anybody wants to take a look...thanks much for any advise

If it were me, I might pollinate a side vine female just to be safe, and then also see what develops on the main down the road. It is still early, you could easily have a good one pollinated on the main in under 2 weeks with a large plant behind it and then you can remove the side vine one if you want.

That 1302 was a nice looking pumpkin. I hope you get a equally nice one.

ok looks like the female at 20 feet that was pollinated Monday isn't taking. I have another female set to open in a day or 2 but is about 23.5 feet out. I have 2 sides that were pollinated and look to have set. the question...is 23.5 feet too far out on the main. the plant is approx. 220 sq ft right now and looking good. at what point do I abort on the main and go with the best looking side.
