I live in Idaho, do squash vine borers affect this area? If so what do I look for? This is my second season growing these things and I didn't seem to have any problems last year.
Thanks,
Brian

I have heard that SVB live only east of the Rockies.

We live west of the Rockies and some of my vines do have squash vine borers, or we have some simaler pest that looks almost the same

Someone I'm sure will post a picture of an adult moth. It is active during the day, almost looks like a wasp or strange bee. Flies with a darting motion. Will then close in under the leafs and lay eggs one at a time under the vines, tendrils, and on the leaf stems. Eggs are orange to brown, small but very visible. In about 7 days they hatch and eat their way into the vine and leaf stems. You will eventually notice a brown sawdust like excrement at various places on the vines. The adults have an active life of only 4 to 6 weeks so your spraying program revolves around whatever that is in your area if they are there.
