I have an SVB in my main vine about 2 feet before the pumpkin. What is the best way to handle it ? The kin is still growing well and is about 12 days old with 33CC from 27cc on day 10.
Should I operate ?

I have injected pesticide in the vine with favorable results.

Try to cut the larva out doing the least amount of damage. My son had this problem last year one foot from pumpkin. His still got to 618 lbs! After removal keep the site dry.

Whatever you do, you need to act today. They don't stay in just the vine and will go into the pumpkin or basically whatever is in their path. I have cut them out before from stems and pumpkins. Also, if one is in, most likely others are too.

I have operated. We will see how the patient does in a few days. Sulfer has been dusted on the cut.
