Hey guys I'm new to growing pumpkins and this is my first year I have a 150lb ish and am really proud of I know it's nothing at the side of you guys but over the last two weeks the skin has started to get loads of small splits in it they are only small but are in patches the pumpkin looks to have not really grown for a few weeks but one on the same vine has started to grow big now it's about 80lb so any ideas what it is they are only say a millimetre deep if that and say 10 mm long at the longest

Richard, if you didn't have the pumpkin covered with anything they're likely splits caused by the fruit prematurely ripening and then trying to grow again. Try shading with a tarp/sheet etc with any fruit you plan to keep.

I had that happen to my 912 2 years ago, in spite of keeping it covered. I perspired and worried a lot from September until October, but it didn't split, and weighed 10% heavy to(old) chart.
I believe the massive amounts of rainfall from tropical storm Irene had something to do with the splits.
