This season all of my plants got the "sand" like covering on all the leaves. They look like small specs of concrete or sand n texture, never appeared to hatch anything and gradually appeared on new leaves concentrating in the crease where the leaf meets the stem. There were never any gesso or anything on the underside of the leaves. Eventually the leaves browned from the outside in and died.

Anyone know what this is ?

Few quick questions...

-Do they appear to be alive? (Do they move?)

-If you collect a few in a jar (with a leaf) and bring them inside does anything change?

-Do they appear on any other parts of the plant?

-Did only the leaves that had this "sand" on them turn brown and die?

Very interesting.
