Last year we had some "leftover" worm compost so we added it to a row of onions we planted. A few days later we noticed that a mole had dug straight down that row only. That is when the light came on. Now every mole trap comes with a handful of worm compost. I told this trick to a friend at work and he is on mole 168. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Anything that vibrates the ground will deters moles and voles, such as an electric fan that is out of balance, or I have even seen windmills on sticks you drive in the ground-not sure how good they work but cheap, but you get the idea.
