Town I went down and noticed my biggest plant with a soccerball sized pumpkin had a split stem, and it was starting to rot. How should I deal with this? Cut off the rotten part and replant? Or leave it alone? I would include pictures if I knew how! Thanks!

you can add a picture by going to home, growers diaries, and click "submit your own diary", Make sure picture is under 4Meg. Then you have to wait for a while for the picture to be approved.
How big is the pumpkin? When you say rot, what do you mean? Soft or just discolored?
At this early date, I think I would pick another pumpkin. But if you want to try and save it, take a spoon and scrape out bad tissue until you see only healthy tissue. Spray with high percentage peroxide (you can use baquicil oxidizer (peroxide) from a pool supply store --- or generic brand) and cut it with 3 parts water and one part oxidizer --- don't get it on your skin or the pumpkin if you can help it. Dust with a fungicide or sulfur and put a fan on it 24/7 with a cover over it to keep rain/dew off of it. Spray peroxide everyday to clean off fungicide and inspect and then dust with fungicide again.
Good luck!
