Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

Above is the link to the picture.
About 2 weeks ago the main vine split open, the surface got mushy and it leaked a BLUE fluid, gummy in consistency. The blue fluid was not discolored by copper, as I had not used it on the vine yet. I got it all cleaned up, removed the deteriorated portion on the outside (vine still whole) and the whole thing dried up and didn't further deteriorate. The kin also continued to grow normally.
No evidence of vine borers: no frass, no holes, no live ones visually or in a trap, no dead bodies. The leaf canopy is absolutely normal. No disease evidence, no flagging, wilting, or any other indicator.
Today I flipped the lid up to check it as I do every day (in this instance it has been two days as it has been raining and I didn't want it to get wet), and this (in the picture link) is what I found. I yanked plant tonight as I'm just done messing with this plant, kin is craptastic anyway, and it's been a problem child from day 1. Any idea what happened here guys?

I prefer a more unified shade structure around the aquatic leisure area, my wife tends to burn easily.
