This is the second year in a row my fair pumpkin has stopped growing at day 20 and by day 30 it started to develope white spots and die. The plant has always looked very healthy and there was nothing wrong with the main vine. I plan on doing running a tissue sample soon. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be. Thanks.

I saw one of your diary photos showing terribly wet conditions after a downpour. It could have been a soil-borne fungus affecting the roots. I had this happen to me a lot in the past. I prevent it by using regular applications of Agri-Fos or another phosphite fungicide. It even happened in hot dry years like last year. The warm soil combined with watering gets it going.

No different seeds that were both proven seeds. Yes it was wet in the patch, but because it was the exact same 2 years in a row I think it is something different. Thanks

I live close to the Mississippi and from its levels, you guys have had it rough this year. We can always tell how much rain you get up there when you see the people in the smaller river towns here sandbagging. I hope you figure it out, but maybe consider raising the bed this winter.

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

So. Maine

IF your patch receives more than 2 or 3 inches of rain in one shot and is not able to drain off excess water there is a real good chance the plants will abort the fruit .

Seen it happen many times over the years .
