Hello- I was just wondering if anyone knew what dangers that a garden with powdery mildew will pose to next year's grow season. This is my first year growing; I had never PLANNED on growing giant pumpkins, but halfway through the season realized that I want to do this, as pumpkins have always made me happy. God, I love them. Anyway, so this year I got powdery mildew on my pumpkins and squash vines, and I really need to know how to prep the garden next year to prevent it from just picking up where this year left off. Any pointers?

Most of the powdery mildew comes from fallout of spores from the air.It literally travels around the world. Steve jepsen gave a talk about it years ago in niagara seminar. Best thing to do is remove the pumpkin plants at the end of the season. Then use a preventative spray program next year. You wont be behind the 8 ball next year.

Along w weekly fungicide we spray 25% milk and water every week.. It's the only thing we spray when the sun is shining.. Seems to work as we haven't had pm in our patch
