When disposing of vines and leaves contaminated with mildew is it a bad idea to add this to your compost pile? I believe I have read where the mildew can 'winter over' in soil so I am assuming the same would be true in compost. I'm wondering if it would be best to just toss this waste and prevent possible future problems.

My guess is that the PM on the plants is the smallest problem associated with composting the old AG plants, because it will be hard for the over-wintered spores to get out of the soil back onto the top side of the new leaves next year or the year after. Other diseases, which cause things like root rot and vine rot and which can enter the plant via roots (or vines in contact with soil), might be the bigger problem, you don´t want to get them back into your patch.
