I think we got some gummy stem blight this year in our patch and it spread to the actual pumpkins. It looks like the skin is being eaten away. We harvested a few of the pumpkins that looked fine and then the same thing happened to them. Is it safe to get the seeds out of the pumpkin for next year or is it possible the disease could live in the seeds and show up again next year. Thanks

if it is Gummy stem, it might be seed borne. But If I understand it correctly, treating the seed with a good fungicide will stop that re-occurance. More likely it is carried forward in plant remains in the patch.

Thank You for the response. We will try saving the seeds and treating them and see what happens.
