The mice are really chewing on one of my pumpkins bad. Holes all around the base and stem. Thank god they have left the two big ones alone. The damage gets worse every day.

Question, I've thought about deacon but could this also kill the snakes and hawks in the area if they eat the mice? I love my pumpkins but not that much.
Today I raised the pumpkin off the ground with some wood hoping this will work.
Does someone have an idea I haven't thought of?

Thanks, Cal

try mouse traps, or moth balls, or get a cat!

I will send you Wally and Meow Kitty. Both good hunters.

Cal,

I've had good luck with a product called Rodex. I take old "baby wipe" boxes and cut an entry hole, and sprinkle a little into each one and place around the garden. Jars work fine too, this stuff has to be kept dry. Once it gets old and/or wet, replace with fresh. Last year, this even took care of a "problem" possum!

p.s. I still have plenty of snakes and hawks!

Thanks kilr, I'll check into that. Their was more damage this morning. I better do something quick before it's to late.
Suzy I don't think my J.R. terrior and the cats would get along LOL. My J.R. would take care of the mice if she would go past the Electric Fence that surrounds the patch LOL
