The female flowers of my gourd remain small as peas and turn yellow and die after a few days, without opening. Pumpkin also had problems in some veins of flat shoots. Genetic or fertilization problems? Anyone has experience and advices on this?

Are you growing one giant pumpkin plant only? If you happen to have more than just this one plant in your patch, how are the other plants doing (any decent females on the other plants)?

Two plants (genetic is 2009 sib) the most vigorous plant for competition, the other only as pollinator, female flowers die and flat veins only in the most vigorous plant. Unfortunately I pruned heavily the pollinator plant, impossible to grow a decent pumpkin on.

Does the other (the pollinator) plant produce any females or do they also die before they can open?

Same here on one of my plants....the 2002 first female had no lobes and the next one got half way into development but stopped growing midway....i opened it up and at least it had 5 lobes. The third one made it almost all the way but stalled the last day prior and didnt open and had nice lobes but quit. Hoping the next one out finally gets it. The 1676 planted back to back to the plant has no female issues. We have had tons of rain and high winds too which definately causes stress. But in this case i am thinking genetically the plant is having a hard time changing from a vegetative state to a fruiting state. Hoping plant figures it out and will try some bloom buster on this plant specific to see if i can get it going.
