New Grower here with two questions: I have tried to stay away from using Merit in my patch as my wife has tomato, pepper, sweet potato, and cucumber on the edges of my patch. But I did spot a SVB moth on some pumpkin vines that popped up nearby from old Big Moon Pumpkin seeds from last year.
1. With those plants nearby, is it safe to use Merit on the Pumpkins without affecting the vegetables at the patch edges?
2. Is it too late to use Merit now?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes and No. A version of merit is listed for home use on vegetables. A little drift won't hurt it could also be watered in as a drench. You will need a contact pesticide with the merit on the plants

Thanks VTWilbur. I have been using a contact pesticide already - Bifenthrin and Zeta-Cypermethrin. But I've kept that off the vegetables. Just concerned if I have enough distance to keep the merit out of the vegetables if I do a soil drench around the pumpkins. Sounds like I should be OK.

They do make a granular merit that is easier to control, that should help, it does not translocate the the plants as fast as the liquid drench or the spray, but it will work. Good Luck

Thanks, Wiz.
I called Bayer regarding their vegetable imidacloprid (merit) product. They recommend a distance of 3-5 feet for plants you do not wish to treat.

If you have seen them and your plant hasnt been treated, you probable already have them, but treating it quickly may work, check for frass which looks like wet sawdust this is where they have bored into your plant, remove any rotten material and treat with sulfur
