I have about 1/16 stump left . it does not get wet any more, but can I grow new roots? Mycorrhizae ?

The roots off the vine without the stump can sustain and add pounds to a pumpkin, not the best situation! Continue to feed your plant as usual. This is where soil compaction can make of break your season. Congrats on your success to this point, I will be happy if I can get one of mine to hit 800lbs!
