My biggest carrot has an issue. I am not sure what is causing the brown tips on the edge of the oldest leaves. If anyone has an idea, I would love to hear it. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=253504

Mine did that at the end of the year last year. Would love to know what others think.
Hopefully its no big deal Bob because the carrot is growing well!

With the exception of today, i have not done any fertilizing. The original potting mixture was Fox Farm Ocean Forest, with the addition of kelp meal, humic acid and about 20 % by volume of earthworm casting. Maybe my original mixture was too potent?

I think i will call the University of Minnesota tomorrow and inquire about how much leaf material would be required for a tissue test. The problem with being only one plant, can't afford to lose too much leaf.

I've been dumping ferts all over mine and it hasn't done that yet - Have you tried Dinty Moore? :)

I don't think there is a ton of carrot knowledge on this site Bnot - I would try giant veg on Facebook - there are tons of carrot growers across the pond that I am sure have probably seen this.....just a thought

I have exchanged emails with the University of Minnesota Research Analytical Laboratory. Just sent them more pictures, waiting for a response.
My daughter has already claimed one leaflet for a wild baby rabbit that she and her best friend adopted. If i try the dinty moore fertilizer, not only will the varmit rabbit be trying to eat the carrot, my growing partner, a golden retriever will be trying to munch on it.
